Welcome Back to Work, Lenny!

PORT ST. LUCIE – This holiday season, a Port St. Lucie attorney has something for which to be thankful.

Leonard S. Villafranco, the attorney, is back at work advocating the needs of clients in Port St. Lucie and elsewhere on the Treasure Coast.

Earlier in the year, an unavoidable accident resulted in him being unable to work for weeks.

“For two months, I was completely out of commission,” Mr. Villafranco recalled last week.

It was on May 23, while he was traveling on his motorcycle on Airoso Boulevard, when the unexpected happened, he said.

Ahead of him a vehicle was stopped in the roadway. The vehicle directly in front of him made a sudden stop to avoid hitting the stopped vehicle, he said. To avoid slamming into the second vehicle, Mr. Villafranco said, he had to drop his motorcycle.

He had no choice because traffic on the road stopped him from changing lanes, he said.

And that “busted up” his left leg, resulting in damage to the cartilage. He also suffered injuries to six ribs in nine different places, he said.

Since then, he’s needed four surgeries, Mr. Villafranco said.

He still walks with a limp and is hoping to avoid having to have a knee replacement, he said.

As an attorney who has practiced in St. Lucie County since 2005 and handles family law, personal injury and criminal cases, Mr. Villafranco said he may find himself in a different role in legal action.

But he’s hoping to avoid that, he said.

The accident hasn’t diminished his enthusiasm for riding a motorcycle and he looks forward to riding one again, he said.

At the time of the accident, he was riding his Harley Davidson Electroglide Classic.

He rode a motorcycle when he was younger and got back into it five years ago.

His office is located at 1430 S.W. St. Lucie West Blvd., Suite 103 and the telephone number is (772) 871-6441.
